Adapted housing

ADAPTED HOUSES ACROSS QUEBEC:

MARTIN-MATTE HOME NETWORK

In Quebec, there is a desperate lack of resources to meet the needs of victims of brain injuries. Because of this lack of resources, victims in their thirties are sometimes transferred to long-term care facilities to receive around-the-clock support. But these aren’t settings suited to the realities of victims of brain injuries, because they are still able to engage in certain activities. They deserve a home that reflects their needs.

The donations received by the Foundation to date have made a major contribution to expanding the Martin-Matte Home Network across Quebec. Eight adapted housing resources have opened their doors in Laval, Sherbrooke, Blainville, Saint-Prosper in Beauce, Coaticook, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières and Trois-Pistoles. In 2021, a new residence for people with a head injury or physical disability will become part of the network in Saint-Rémi in the Montérégie West region.

"I am an 80 year old grandmother and I would like to say a very big THANK YOU for your house on L'Ormière Boulevard in Quebec City. My 23 year old grandson with a head trauma lived in a room with elderly people...and now he has his apartment thanks to you, as well as all the services he needs. May God bless you for this great generosity towards our Raphaël." Mamie Genest, grandmother of Raphaël, resident of the Maison Martin-Matte, Pavillon Patrice-Villeneuve

“The apartment is gorgeous, well divided and functional... no more thresholds for going outside or taking a shower. Accessibility makes life easier for people with disabilities, and I feel safe here. If anything happens, I just ring and someone is there to help. The staff is courteous and sensitive.” Donald St-Pierre, resident of the Maison Martin-Matte, Pavillon Patrice-Villeneuve

Maison Martin-Matte Trois-Rivières

The seventh Maison Martin-Matte, located on the grounds of the CIUSSS in the Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec region, opened its doors in 2019 in Trois-Rivières. Ten people with a head injury now benefit from a warm and safe living environment that is adapted to their particular needs.

"Our sister Sylvie is finally a happy woman. Since she moved in, she is not the same Sylvie anymore! She has a social life, friends, activities...she is slowly regaining her autonomy which she had lost." expressed with gratitude Lyne and Denise, sisters of Sylvie, resident of the Maison Martin-Matte in Trois-Rivières.

Through the images and testimonials presented in this video, you will witness the joy of finally finding home.
